The New England Eco-Hospitality Expo is offering a variety of "How to" seminars to advance your green initiatives. Expo attendees have the opportunity to participate in interactive seminars on everything from how to start a green program to learning more about how you can host green meetings and conferences at your property.

2009 NE Eco-Hospitality Expo Seminar DescriptionsMarketing Your Greening Efforts and Addressing the Forgotten Piece of Sustainable Travel: Sense of Place (10:30 – 11:30 am)Every hotel operates within a unique setting, comprised of its surrounding landscape, culture, history, people, native foods and natural environment. This medley of characteristics, or “sense of place” can be a property’s most efficient and powerful tool for generating revenue, but this most important piece of sustainable hotel operation is often overlooked. Integrating sense of place also makes marketing your greening efforts a natural segue into appealing to your guests’ desire to purchase “green”. This seminar will provide new ideas and inspiration. Learn from experienced professionals, how you can transform your loads of organic waste into valuable compost for your landscaping, educate and inspire your staff to reduce waste and promote your greening initiative to your customers without effort. Addressing Energy Issues in Hospitality (1 - 2pm)Rising energy costs have been at the forefront of hospitality’s operating challenges. Addressing these spiraling costs means more than changing a few light bulbs. Learn from a variety of experts in energy auditing, utility rebate programs, solar applications (including the “hottest” trend – solar hot water!) and renewable energy financing about how you can be prepared to address concerns over rising energy bills. Learn from the AH & LA’s 11 steps to greening, how you can improve your property’s operation, making it more eco-friendly and “eco-nomical”! Speaker: Pat Maher, The Maher Group for the American Hotel & Lodging Association Green Meeting and Conferences (3 - 4pm)What does your facility need to do to meet the needs of public and private organizations and businesses looking for green meetings, conferences and events?
